Men's Outdoor Track - Bears Place Seven on All-Academic team

Jordan Kellham earned NEWMAC All-Academic team honors for the third straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/5/11)--Coast Guard had seven student-athletes named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Track and Field All-Academic team.

Seniors John Jaskot (Marine and Environmental Sciences), Jordan Kellam (Civil Engineering) and Carl Luxhoj (Marine and Environmental Sciences) earn NEWMAC All-Academic honors for the third straight season.

Senior Nate Crum (Civil Engineering) and junior Peter Imbriale (Operations Research/Computer Analysis) were named to the team for the second time in their career.

Men's Tennis - Maurer Named to All-Conference team

Blake Maurer earned All-conference honors for the second straight season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/3/11)--Sophomore Blake Maurer was named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Tennis All-conference team in voting by the league’s six head coaches while Coast Guard also won the Sportsmanship Award for the fifth straight season.

Maurer was named to the second team at the #5 singles spot. He earns All-conference honors for the second straight season after earning second team honors at the # 4 spot last year.

Men's Outdoor Track - Scalesse Named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year

Adam Scalesse won a pair of events to garner NEWMAC Rookie of the Year honors.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(5/2/11)--Coast Guard freshman Adam Scalesse was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year in voting by the league’s six head coaches.

Scalesse broke the school, facility and NEWMAC Championship record in the 110 hurdles and set facility and NEWMAC marks in the 400 hurdles leading host Coast Guard to a third place finish at the NEWMAC Championships on Saturday.

He won the 110 hurdles in 14.73 seconds and then beat three-time defending NEWMAC champion and his teammate senior Kyle Coleman in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.30. Coleman was second with a time of 55.10, both of his times were provisional qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Championships.

Men's Tennis - Bears Fall in Championship Match
CAMBRIDGE, MASS.--(5/1/11)--The MIT Engineers continued their perfect New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament record and captured their 13th straight NEWMAC postseason title on Sunday afternoon. The top seeded Engineers beat #3 Coast Guard Academy 5-0 in a match that was played to decision at DuPont Tennis Courts.

MIT sophomore Larry Pang was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament. Pang paired with Curtis Wu to win at second doubles and collected the clinching point, a 6-3, 6-4 win over Chris Hoffman at fourth singles.

Edwin Zhang also had a strong championship match for MIT, winning in easy fashion 6-3, 6-0 at first singles and pairing with Andrew Cooper at third doubles. The pair was down 4-1 to Josh Fischer and Austin Dean but fought back and emerged with an 8-5 victory.
