 Amanda Frederick had a record setting season to earn All-America honors.
The duo that led the Bears to the NCAA regional final for the second straight season, become the first Coast Guard players to earn NFCA All-America honors in the history of the program.
Frederick, who was the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Year, led the team with a .483 batting average and set single-season school records with 71 hits, 18 doubles and 51 RBI’s while tying the single-season school record with 41 runs scored.
She also belted nine homers, led the team with a .789 slugging percentage and a .494 on base percentage while making just two errors in 401 chances behind the plate. |

 Kevin Jaskiewicz, who served as the interim coach last season, was the choice after a national search.
Jaskiewicz, who was an assistant coach with Coast Guard for three seasons under Pete Barry, has had success coaching at every level of college basketball. He has been part of the Coast Guard coaching staff that won back-to-back New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament championships in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Bears won a school-record 24 games and advanced all the way to the Elite 8 in 2007-2008.
“After a comprehensive national search that produced over 113 applicants, Kevin emerged as the top candidate on the basis of his basketball coaching experience, ability to recruit, and his commitment to teaching and mentoring cadets,” said Dr. Ray Cieplik, Coast Guard Academy Director of Athletics. |

 Hayley Feindel was outstanding in a 1-0 nine inning loss in the championship game.
Eastern, 36-4-1 and this season's Little East title-holder, advances to the 2010 NCAA Division III Softball Championship, May 21-25, at University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Coast Guard, the 2010 NEWMAC champion, finishes the season with a record of 34-10.

Both hurlers dominated play in the early going, with Feindel holding the Warriors hitless and Rathbun giving up just one hit through three innings. Coast Guard threatened in the bottom of the fourth, using back-to-back singles from Holli Bastinck and Courtney Wolf and a walk to load the bases with one out. But Rathbun fanned the next two batters to hold the score at 0-0. |

 Coutney Wolf's three-run blast sent the Bears back to regional championship game for the second straight season.
Coast Guard (34-9) will play top-seeded Eastern Connecticut in the championship game at 2:30 p.m. The Bears will need to beat the Warriors this afternoon and again at 10 a.m. on Monday to win the regional and advance to the Division III World Series in Wisconsin, which begins on Friday.
Brandeis took a 1-0 lead on a walk and three illegal pitches in the first. Hayley Feindel was called for six illegal pitches in the first inning, but made some between inning adjustments and threw six shutout innings to close out the game and improve to 32-9 on the season. Feindel scattered five hits while walking three and striking out four.
