 Andy Snyder earned Pilgrim Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week honors. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/1/10)--Coast Guard Academy junior Andy Snyder has been named the Pilgrim Wrestling League’s Wrestler of the Week after recording a pair of wins including his 20th of the season.
Snyder, ranked sixth in New England at 157 pounds, beat Kyle Muir from Trinity 7-1 and Peter Gilman from Southern Maine 12-1 in the Bears only action of the week.
He is now 20-6 overall (.777) with six pins on the season for the Bears, who will wrestle at WPI on Tuesday and then compete at the All-Academy Championships at Navy this weekend.
Snyder, who was unseeded last season, placed third at the All-Academy Championships last season as he upset third-seeded Keith Koziel from The Citadel 4-2 in the third place match.

 Kim Shadwick broke a pool record and earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/1/10)--Coast Guard Academy junior Kim Shadwick has been named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
Shadwick won three events and broke the Coast Guard pool record in the 1,000 freestyle as the Bears handed Clark its first dual meet loss of the season with a 165-135 win.
She broke the pool record in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:37.80 and also won the 100 backstroke (1:01.60) and 500 freestyle (5:13.58). |

 Josh Wofford won the 400 meters and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/30/10)--A trio of juniors qualified for the Division III New England Championships and won their events as the Bears won the Coast Guard Invitational.
Coast Guard finished with 222 points to beat Westfield State (161.5), Trinity (136) and Eastern Connecticut (87.5).
Junior Devin Adams won the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet, 6.25 inches, junior John Jaskot won the high jump (6 feet, 4 inches) and classmate Josh Wofford won the 400 meters (51.26) as all three qualified for the Division III New England Championships. Jaskot improved his qualifying leap after going 6 feet, 3.25 inches last week. |

 Johnson Knox was part of three pool records in the win over Clark. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/30/10)--Johnson Knox had part in breaking three pool records as Coast Guard beat Clark 182-115 in the final home meet of the season.
Knox broke the pool record in the 50 freestyle (21.21) and was part of two relay teams which broke pool records in the win.
The 400 medley relay team of Timmy Berry, Mike Carman, Dan Alley and Knox set the pool record with a time of 3:32.98 and the 200 medley relay team of Dan Beshoar, Knox, Alley and Brian McGuiness broke the pool record with a time of 1:26.68. |
