 Senior All-American Hayley Feindel, the Division III all-time strikeouts leader, is back to lead the Bears once again. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(2/2/12)--Coast Guard is ranked 15th nationally in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III preseason poll.
2012 PRESEASON POLL
The Bears were 38-4 overall and a 15-1 in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) last season. Coast Guard won the NEWMAC regular season title for the third straight season while winning its second straight NEWMAC tournament title. The Bears also made their third straight NCAA tournament appearance and finished the season ranked 17th in the final NFCA coaches’ poll.
Senior first team All-American Haley Feindel, the NCAA Division III all-time leader with 1,206 strikeouts is back to lead the Bears once again in 2012. Feindel was a dominant force in the circle last season as she led the nation and set school records for wins (37), strikeouts (457), shutouts (26) and earned-run average (0.56) en route to becoming the first Coast Guard softball player to win first-team All-America accolades by the NFCA. |

The women’s team beat Clark 134-108 to improve to 5-7 on the season. Westkott has 102 wins with the men’s program and 48 as head coach of the women’s team.
Freshman Sara Cantrell broke the school-record on the three-meter board with a score of 247.5 breaking the record of 228 set by Melissa Smith in 2003.
Clark senior All-American Eileen Garcia broke the pool records on both the one-meter (288.65) and the three-meter boards (318.10) for the Cougars. |

The 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Christian Brindamour, senior Johnson Knox, senior Brian McGuiness and senior Dan Beshoar broke the pool record with a time of 3:08.92. |

 Kieron McCarthy earned All-Academic honors for the third straight season. NEW LONDON, CONN.--(1/26/12)--Coast Guard Academy placed 18 student-athletes on the 2011 New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Academic team announced on Thursday.
The senior class led the way with eight players named to the team including seven of those being named to the All-Academic team for the third straight season.
Defensive linemen, Bobby Costolo (Operations Research/Computer Analysis) and Paul Hahn-Rauch (Government), linebackers Kieron McCarthy (Civil Engineering) and Nick Peters (Mechanical Engineering) along with offensive lineman Chris Shivock (Marine and Environmental Sciences), wide receiver Stephen Spotts (Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering) and running back Ryan Webster (Operations Research/Computer Analysis) were all named for the third straight season while defensive lineman Nathan White (Marine and Environmental Sciences) earned a spot on the team for the second straight season. |
