Bio: Jack Neades joined the Coast Guard Academy Offshore Sailing Team as the head coach in April of 2007. Jack began his marine career as a sail maker for Sobstad Sailmakers in 1986, where he built sails for several America’s Cup campaigns. As a professional sailmaker he had many opportunities to sail and race with many of the top racing sailors on a variety of different racing boats ranging in size from 24 -80 feet.

Over the years Jack pursued his career in the marine services industry while continuing to race sailboats at every possible opportunity. Eventually, he decided to run his own racing program and became very involved with J29 class. After his J29 campaign ended, he continued racing as crew onboard a One Design 35 that regularly participated in events up and down the east coast.

Most recently, Jack and his wife Carol completed a 7 month cruise to the Bahamas onboard their Pearson 39 “Reach”. Jack is a member of several local yacht clubs. He and his wife, Carol currently live in
Groton, CT.
