Merril-Morin has quite an impressive resumé. She competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and was a finalist in the 1500 meters. Jan competed at the International level from 1975 to 1985 and was a member of 24 national teams throughout Europe, Japan, China and the United States. She is a former world record holder in the 5000 meters (outdoor), 2 miles both indoor and outdoor and the 3000 meters. Jan was an American record holder in the 1500, 3000, and 5000 from 1976-1980. Merrill-Morin won the gold medal at the Pan Am Games in the 1500 meters in 1975 at Mexico City and in the 3000 meters in 1979 at Puerto Rico. Merril-Morin is a 12-time national champion, five indoor, five outdoor and two in cross country and a silver medalist at the World Cross Country Championships in 1981. |
