United States Coast Guard Academy - Department of Athletics

Brian Swingly is entering his second year at the Coast Guard Academy Sailing team this fall as a full time assistant coach. Previously, Brian served as the Head Coach of the 420 Race Team at Hyannis Yacht Club from 2005-2006. In 2006, Brian helped the HYC team achieve the Team Championship for the Southern Massachusetts Sailing Association.

Brian graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2005 with a degree in Psychology. As a member of the sailing team, Swingly was named captain for his Sophomore through Senior years. He also received the UNH Sailing Team’s MVP award in 2004 and 2005.

Brian remains active in the racing community. He is an active member of both the Thistle and Laser classes. Swingly is a US Sailing certified level 2 coach and a level 1 instructor trainer. He currently lives in New London.
