CAPT Gaines begins his third season as head coach and 13th season as a member of the Bears coaching staff.
During his 11 seasons as assistant coach he worked primarily with the front court players. The Bears won a school-record 25 games and a program-first ECAC Northeast Championship in 2008.
Gaines is a 1978 graduate of the Academy with a B.S. in Physical Sciences where he played basketball and tennis.
In 1990, Gaines was selected into the Permanent Commissioned Teaching Staff in the Academy’s Department of Science. He was an assistant men’s coach 1984-86, 1987-88 and 1990-92. In 1998, he received a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Connecticut. |
