Gallagher Named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week

Coast Guard Academy senior Nolan Gallagher has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week after leading the offensive charge for the baseball team through the first nine games of the season.

Gallagher drove in five runs in the first game of the season, an 11-9 win over Merchant Marine as the team went 5-2 in Florida before splitting a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader with Springfield on Saturday to open the northern portion of the schedule.

He leads the team with a .353 batting average and .436 on base percentage. Gallagher has a team-high 12 hits, four doubles and nine RBI’s while he is second on the team with seven runs scored and five walks.

Gallagher, who has started all nine games in right field, has not made an error in 20 chances and he hit safely in the first eight games of the season with three multi-hit games.

Coast Guard, now 6-3 on season, will host Johnson & Wales on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
