Wood Named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week

Sophomore Kyle Wood has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week after hitting .389 and allowing just one earned run in six innings on the mound for the Bears baseball team.

Wood had his best game of the week in the first game of a doubleheader against Emerson on Saturday as he went 3 for 5 with a single, double triple and five RBI’s as Coast Guard won its first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game of the season with a 12-3 victory and the Bears completed the sweep with a 7-1 win in the nightcap.

He hit safely in four of the Bears five games last week and now has six multiple hit games this season.

Wood pitched six innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits while walking one and striking out one in a 3-1 loss to Albertus Magnus on Thursday.

Coast Guard is now 6-11 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

The Bears are back in action on Tuesday when they play at Babson at 3:30 p.m.
