Freshman Taylor Rowe has been named the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week after earning a pair of second place finishes and breaking a school record at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
Rowe placed second in both the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:33.49 and the 1,650 freestyle touching the wall in 15:48.11 both NCAA “B” but times.
He broke the school record in the 1,000 freestyle over the first 1,000 yards of the 1,650 with a mark of 9:30.12 breaking the record of All-American Bobby Brown.
Rowe is currently 13th in nation the 1,650 freestyle and is awaiting word on a berth to the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina from March 16th - 19th. The NCAA takes the top 16 of 17 times in each event. If selected Rowe will be allowed to compete in three individual events.
The Bears placed third at the NEWMAC Championships for the fourth straight season.
