Moore Named NEWMAC Defensive & CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week
Coast Guard Academy junior goalkeeper Holly Moore has been named
both the NEWMAC Defensive and CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week
after registering a pair of shutouts in a 1-0-1 week for the
Moore had seven saves in a 1-0 overtime home win over WPI at home on Tuesday before making 11 saves in a 0-0 double overtime tie at Babson on Saturday.
Coast Guard got its first win or tie against Babson since 2004 with the double overtime tie on Saturday as Moore registered her third shutout of the season.
The Bears, who are 5-7-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), have already tied a school-record with five shutouts this season.
Moore, who has 48 saves this season in nine games, has an outstanding 0.85 goals against average and is tied for second in the NEWMAC with an .857 save percentage.
Coast Guard, which has not earned a berth in the NEWMAC tournament since 2003, had also already won a pair of conference games for the first time in ten years. The Bears have five games left including a NEWMAC match at Mount Holyoke tonight at 6 p.m.
