Sophomore All-American Kaitlyn Mooney has been named the NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week and the CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week, presented by First Command, as she placed fourth overall in the Brown Division leading Coast Guard to a solid sixth place finish at the Paul Short Run.
She wins the NEWMAC weekly honor for the third time this season.
The Brown Division race consisted of some Division I teams as well as regionally ranked Division II and III teams. The Bears placed third overall beating regionally ranked Division III teams, The College of New Jersey, Carnegie Mellon, Swarthmore and Wesleyan.
The All-American Mooney ran the 6K course in 21:27 and was the second among Division III runners in the division while the Bears the second Division III team behind fourth place Rochester.
The Paul Short Run is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools competing.
The Bears are back in action on Oct. 13th at the Conn. College Invitational at Harkness Park in Waterford.
