NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Brett Foster has been named CGASPORTS.COM Athlete of the Week for setting a new school record in the 1000 at the Open New England Championship this past weekend.
Foster ran 2:27.70 for a fourth place finish and All-New England honors. His time is also the third fastest time in Division III New England.
He broke the school record of 2:27.75 set by Mike Flint in 2007. Flint was a four time All-American. Foster was also the only Division III athlete to make finals as the other seven competitors were all Division I athletes.
The men’s Coast Guard track and field team will be back in action this weekend at the Tufts Last Chance Meet where they will run a 4x400 team Saturday afternoon hoping to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship.
